Rob McRae is a psychotherapist and author who has worked in healthcare settings for almost 20 years, with clinical work in hospitals, addiction rehabilitation centers, and community health care before entering private practice.
Rob has a Masters degree in Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy from Wilfrid Laurier University and is a Registered Member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (#003746). Rob has also completed two units of CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) with the Canadian Association of Spiritual Care (CASC), and has fulfilled training and requirements to be a CRPO Supervisor for both new and experienced therapists.
Post-graduate education for Rob has been primarily in the areas of IFS (Internal Family Systems), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), The Work of Byron Katie, EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). Recent major trainings have been the official IFS institute Level-1, and the Adler School IFS Foundations course.
After experiencing first-hand the devastating effects of mental health in himself and his own family, Rob sought answers which led to a major life transformation around the age of 20. After this, his life became devoted to healing and growth in himself and others.
Since publishing a book about spirituality in 2006, Rob has continued to teach mindfulness and non-dual ideas, bringing them into his own style of holistically integrated therapy. While considering himself a deeply spiritual person, he is also an academic with respect but not affiliation to any religious tradition. He has spent time in Hindu Ashrams in India, Buddhist monasteries in North America, a Christian Theological Seminary, Vipassana training, and for many years, regular nondual meditation retreats with Rupert Spira.
When he’s not busy being a therapist and overseeing Wise Path Counselling, you can find Rob cycling, painting, being a novel and music nerd, dreaming about his next trip to Iceland, and mostly just enjoying the simple beauty of life.
